Many people around the World, face complexity for which path they should walk, towards their dreams or their parent’s dreams. Caroline Hwang, is an ambushed of this case. Hwang - “But after 20-some years of following their wishes and meeting all their expectations, I couldn’t bring myself to disobey or disappoint.” (9). This quote illustrates the idea of, how she has been following all their requirements and their expected outcome from her. For twenty years, she only tries to fulfill her parents dreams, and wishes. She pushes her dreams, passion all the way down as if it was a bedrock, and layers up her life with only her parent’s expectations like a topsoil. Parallel to the author, my friend Sonam has also gone through these same situations as well. Being a Tibetan American, she was living the same lifestyle as Hwang did. She wanted to be a choreographer, but her parents did not like this idea of her. Her parents wanted her to become a doctor, and to fulfill those wishes, she joined the medical school. However, she failed her test, and that left her with taking the course again. Hearing this her parents told her, “We have sacrificed so much for you, and in return you cannot even pass this test to fulfill our wishes”. Stumbled by her parent’s reaction, she had to pass the test no matter what circumstances come up. Both Hwang, and Sonam tries their best to make their parents adulate them, but indeed their parents wanted their wishes to be fulfilled. Parents play a vital role in societies, having the right to tell their children what is right, and wrong. However, when these rights are pointed towards childrens passion, it makes a huge confusion in one’s mind, thinking who’s dreams are more
