Relevant to today’s culture, people within the Christian or even non-Christian belief would often quote from the Bible, because it relates directly to how they perceive the world or so they can remind themselves that they are not alone in this world who has felt the same way. For instance, the Bible drives many messages across in terms of what moralities and values should be. One of which is to “seek the good of everyone, friend and foe” (Calvin 37). This is extremely powerful, especially to think for and about goodness in an enemy. That way of appreciating each other is fairly noted as well. In reality, people today “fear and abhor poverty, obscurity, and humility, and we seek to avoid them by all possible means,” but we don’t easily embrace and appreciate what we have (Calvin 41).
