During all the periods of human history education ranked high among people. It is one of the most valuable possessions a man can get in his life. Self-education is very important for the development of human’s talents. Only through self-education a person can become a harmonically developed personality. Education develops all sides of human personality, reveals his abilities. Besides, it helps a person to understand himself, to choose the right way in this world. Personal education takes most of the time and energy. Student should assume full responsibility for his own learning, including the establishment of the learning objectives; determination of the content of training; development and planning his own training program; reflection and self-motivation; organization and management of his own activities; evaluation of the results of his own work and self-evaluation; evaluation of the quality of the chosen method of learning. The goals and purpose of this plan are focused on the use of both tools and the collaboration between people and how this enhances the ability to overcome challenges in meaningful learning and education. Both learning and education experiences that take place inside the classroom (e.g. formal schooling) as well as outside the classroom (e.g. extracurricular activities) is evaluated and the overall goal of using both tools and collaborative efforts with other humans is consistent throughout both experiences. The inside-the-classroom portion of this personal education plan consists of the academic course English 103, which is offered at the Los Angeles City College (LACC) for students who plan to transfer to a four-year university.
