Sometimes these bias become an integral part of our society. When President Obama was elected into office, he made gender equality one of his priorities at once. The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act amended the Civil Rights Act of 1964 so that complaints could be filed within 180-days of a discriminatory paycheck and the days would reset with each paycheck. This is one of many steps taken to end gender inequality in the workplace. Women can now bring their cases to court, but this do not aid them in fighting their employer’s discrimination completely. Companies may still claim that their female employees have not performed their jobs as efficiently as men.…

Having a bias is to pass a judgment on someone or something without really knowing. The prejudices are harmful to oneself and to the society, particularly because they are the largest source of discrimination against many people. In fact, one of the biggest obstacles for the optimal development of critical thinking in a person are their prejudices (Koppelman, 2014). Prejudices hinder self-reflection and self-criticism. I don't really know what exactly I believe is the "correct" way of handling gender inequality in general, in this discussion regarding occupational trends and movements in society. I am likely to offend some who would view my post, and for that I sincerely apologize, as it's not my intent. The fact is, I don't know that I personally see overwhelming degrees of inequality on a day-to-day basis (simple daily living)between the sexes, at least here in the United States. Though if there is an area that IS truly male-biased and unfair, I would be hard pressed to think of one of hand that is more obvious than employment.…

Although women’s status in society has improved, gender discrimination still persists within the legal profession. In 1954, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act established that it was unconstitutional to discriminate based on sex, race, color or religion (Dworkin 29). However, women are still faced with injustices in the work world. It is often difficult for women to receive promotions as compared to men. The objective of my research is to assess the ongoing problem of women’s lower status and pay equity in the legal profession.…

Discrimination Against Women in the Workplace From a young age, society teaches children how to see things differently than they really are. Prejudice and discrimination are carried through lineage, and over time are passed through generations of people who hold the same ideals because of their false influences. Since the beginning of the 19th century, society has taught women that they are of lesser value in comparison to men. In the workplace, women are discriminated against because of their gender, and are lead to believe that they do not deserve what is rightfully a man’s career. The hours and wages women receive do not match what their male co-workers gain, despite them having the same job.…
