Reflection For The Giver

The book, ‘The Giver’ written by Lois Lowry is a futuristic novel about communities trying to achieve utopia. In their desire for this perfect world, a concept called Sameness is introduced which means that every aspect of their communities are uniform and monotonous. They are oblivious to concepts such as colours, true love, war, pain, hunger, freedom of choice and seasons. They live in a society where they are trying to achieve mechanical perfection. It is meticulously ordered, but unknowingly, despite all their attempts, dystopia still prevails. An important theme of the book is the importance of individual strength in a character when faced with a conflict such as conformity to regulations. It displays the growth of character during the quest for knowledge and understanding.

The understanding for the Giver in the reader enhances at this point, making the reader yearn to know more about the

There are so many differences the world over: weather, trees, animals, people, and even the soil beneath our feet changes as we move from one place to the next.
