Have you ever thought of wanted to win an award for being an outstanding person? The Giraffe Award is given to people based on a certain criteria. They are given to people that make the world a better place and go way beyond others. Therefore, to receive the Giraffe Award a person must take on significant risks, act out of caring, and go above and beyond their call of duty. Because he took a personal and financial risk, acted out of caring, and went above and beyond the call of duty, Jerry Foster deserves to be this year's Giraffe Award winner.

Foster didn’t care to record his saving efforts. He also had stated, “I’m no bleeping journalist”. Typically, people act out of caring when they don't care if they will receive fame or recognition for something. Jerry Foster acted out of care when he didn't bother to turn on the camera to record him saving lives. He also stated that “I’m no bleeping journalist” showing he doesn’t do it for the fame. By not bothering to film his saving efforts Foster fits the criterion that a giraffe should act out of caring and is the best choice for this year’s Giraffe Award winner. Some may believe Beth Dadio is the best choice because she fits the criterion that a Giraffe should act above and beyond the call of duty. Sister Beth helped the homeless. As mentioned before when someone goes above and beyond they do something that isn’t a requirement, Sister Beth's duty was to help people and she was helping the homeless. Jerry Foster, the candidate that was chosen, however, went above and beyond his call of duty by saving lives even though his job was just to find news stories.
