I definitely agree that the four C’s are key points that go into what makes a band successful. All of the different aspects are added up to make each performance the best it can be. These are incorporated in our band through ways like the Reminds. They are a very efficient way of communicating to the entire band to get important information out there. Without these, I know that I for one would sometimes forget pep band and report times. Critical thinking is a skill that every band student should use every time they play their instrument. Whether it is working especially hard on a solo spot or simply scanning ahead in the music to prepare for what is coming up next. That is a major part of what makes groups of all kinds successful. I can honestly say I have never really looked at Critical Thinking the way I see it now. Weak critical thinkers lack the ability to look at things from different points of view being true or not true. Strong critical thinkers have the ability to see things, and question every angle of their way of thinking, and come up with a theory or realistic view or stand point on that topic or discussion. The quality of critical thinking, I feel I am a strong critical thinking! My best quality is Intellectual courage: the willingness to face and fairly assess ideas, beliefs, or viewpoints to which they have not given a serious hearing, regardless of one's strong negative reactions to them.…

How boring would everyday life be if your new favorite music was never released? If you never receive the opportunity to see your favorite talent perform live, and art galleries all around the world close down? If the arts are depleted from schools worldwide, the risk of this happening is raised astronomically. The people in this audience have proven through the years that the DJHS band is nothing to be cherished. The band has decreased from a population of approximately 100 members in the early 2000s to about 30 current members.…

The Philosophy of My Band Director When thinking about my band director in high school, I see her as an interventionist in Wolfgang and Glickman’s classroom management philosophy. Since my junior year of high school, I have observed my band director in her middle school band classes. Because her ensemble numbers have been growing rapidly, she has turned into an interventionist. She does not give the students much free time because they have the opportunity to get very loud and out of control. Her 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade band classes all consist of more than 60 students and just one teacher.…

This is the last set, this is the last set. I stand in the blistering sun with the rest of the marching band on the last day of band camp. Marching band is something that has influenced me to work hard in and of the classroom. It has taught me that hard work does not always get you what you want, the execution of what you know is a big part to show what you have learned. For example, this year our marching band attended Grand Nationals in Indianapolis and we had a great performance. Out of the 95 bands, 34 bands made it to semi-finals. We placed 35th and we were .05 out of semi-finals.…

I believe that the band should stay independent (Indie) and produce themselves in this business because in today’s society you have more of artists/bands going the independent route where they can see with their own eyes of where the money is going into and how they can put into use for their well-being. The independent route for artists/bands plays a good model for them because they have all rights their own music and have the control to release at any time without having someone telling them to release on this day or give them a deadline for a single dropped out for the fans to hear. Having this choice also give them the advantage to promote themselves through social media and in the public eye as well instead of having the major record label…

The pricier studios are usually found in the larger areas associated with the music industry, like New York, Los Angeles, Nashville, or Atlanta. Smaller areas, such as Montgomery, Birmingham, and Mobile tend to stay under $100 per hour, but usually cost more than $50 per hour, depending on the quality of the studio. Around Montgomery, the least expensive professional studio that advertises regularly offers digital recording services for as little as $50 per hour. The Cage will offer studio time at a very reasonable $25 per hour, with blocks of time available for negotiable package prices. Our goal here is to focus on the musician or customer without them having to worry about watching the clock or paying more than they can afford.…
