The First Trout I Caught and the Reason I Hate Snakes It was a warm sunny day in the state of Wyoming. I was with my brother and uncle when the unthinkable happened to me. I remember the memory like it was yesterday. And now I always watch my step in rattlesnake country. I was on a trip with my uncle and my younger brother when we talked to a guy that my uncle knew. His name was zach and he was nice enough to let us go fishing for trout in a stocked pond that his boss owned. Since he was hired to keep up the land and tend to the cattle he could let people fish there. I was super excited and I love to go fishing for any kind of fish. We drove through the *curved roads that ran by Mountains. It was a very *beautiful view. When we got to a gate that zach had talked about, I got out to take the chain off. The chain prevented the cattle from getting out, so when my uncle drove past I locked it behind us and jumped into the truck. The road was narrow and it was just a dirt path so the ride was very *bumpy. The road lead down to the pond and when I saw the pond I grew more and more anxious to start fishing. We parked to the side of the pond about 35 feet away. I went to the back of the truck and yanked out the rods. The water was *crystal clear and you could see the shadows of the trout. I knew instantly that it was a garter snake. I laughed at him because he was scared of it and it was tiny. I started walking back the way I came so I could tell my uncle what happened and maybe he would know what kind of snake it was. I jumped over the same stream and headed over to the truck. I told him it looked exactly like a rattlesnake but it didn’t have a rattle. He told me that it was probably a bull snake and they aren’t venomous but they have a nasty bite. He laughed at me and I told him to walk in the tall grass if he was so brave, then we would see who was the scared

Calling the snake ugly was just an excuse for his killing; he chose to ignore the beauty of the snake for his own childish reasons. It is shown that he knew there are no poisonous snakes in the area, proving the boy only killed the snake because he has accepted the ugliness in the snake, even though it is absent. He refused so see it any other way as his uncle asked “The snake was beautiful. Didn’t you see how beautiful it was?” but the boy on auto-pilot again said “Snakes are ugly and bad” (Krause 3).The boy’s uncle repeatedly tries to get his nephew to understand or even see that the snake was indeed not ugly, but the boy’s opinion was so firm that logic no longer prevailed.…

One fall day, on a cool, crisp morning it was quiet enough to hear an acorn fall from the trees, making a soft plunk plunk sound on a nearby leaf. My family and I journeyed out into the deep muddy woods that was sparkling from the way the sun was hitting the fresh dew. The sun was reflecting off our Ranger just right to make it look a sparkly, vibrant shade of red. We were driving on bumpy, muddy trails to check the trail cameras, which were hanging on the trees with a strap and a bright orange flag. The flag was there to warn us not to drive past or we would be caught on camera.…
