People have the freedom to petition the government because this right grants you not only the freedom to stand up and speak out against injustices or things that are wrong, but it also grants you the power to help change those injustices. So in a simpler way, people do it because they want change in things we know are not right and have to see it day to day and no one do anything about it, wither because they don’t know how to fix it or are scared to step up and say/do something because of the consequences it can have. There are many different issues that petitions can contain, from simple things as background checks on buying a gun to more serious things as abortion and the death penalty. An example of the Freedom to Petition the government in the real world today is, the petition of the Planned Parenthood videos produced by the Center for Medical Progress. What this petition is about is that The Center for Medical Progress has released a series of videos showing its thirty month undercover operation concerning Planned Parenthood 's trafficking in fetal body parts. The videos provide evidence that Planned Parenthood has violated federal law by altering abortion procedures to facilitate procurement of organs requested by researchers; and obtaining money above reimbursement for the procurement of those organs. So by this petition getting signatures it is helping to stop trafficking in fetal body parts, and to do abortion procedures correct and not make money out of it because, what they are doing is illegal and no one is stopping them or saying
