For my final paper of the semester I’ve decided to go with option number 1 on the assignment choice. As for my renewable energy method of choice I’m going to go with wind energy. Wind energy is by far my favorite source that we’ve discussed this semester. Bio-energy would be a close second but I don’t consider that to be as sustainable as wind energy. My paper will flow in the same direction as the instructions for the paper. I’ll start with how it can be harnessed and will progress in order of the instructions. I’ll end with my own reflections on how I feel it can be further developed. Wind energy is harnessed using wind turbines. Wind turbines are designed as a set of blades connected to a rotor. They take advantage of kinetic energy from the wind that pushes the large rotating blades which turns the rotor. This is how the energy is generated. There are many designs for wind turbines. The wind farm in Bowling Green uses a standard design of a large vertical pole with the rotor at the top. This rotor is attached to three long blades spinning on a horizontal axis …show more content…
Whether it would be fossil fuels or any source of renewable energy. This includes wind energy. One big implication for wind energy is the use of land. While I find this to be somewhat negligible due to the versatility of wind turbine construction and types, a big thing is the land it’s being constructed on. Many people will argue that there are better uses for the land. These uses can include farming, or building residential homes or business. As I said I believe this is negligible because we can build turbines to fit the area it is being used in. For example they don’t take up a lot of space. We can build them on farm land that isn’t being used or we can spread them out across a field that is being used. Perhaps into parts of that field that can’t be used for whatever
