In the film God’s Not dead, the main character Josh Wheaton is a devout Christian and a Freshmen in college. At the beginning of the year, he signed up for his college Philosophy class and became challenged with his college professor, Mr. Radisson. Professor Radisson is a strong atheist, which believes that there is no God in the universe. In class, Professor Radisson had the students write on a piece of paper “God is Dead”, since Josh is a devout Christian he found himself at a crossroad, having to decide between his faith and his future. Since Josh refused to proclaim that “God is Dead”, Professor Radisson gave him a daring task to prove God’s existence and argue how God is real in the world. Josh starts off with a clock analogy to explain the existence of life on the earth. In the debate Josh mentions a man named Stephen Hawking who wrote a book called Great Design. In his book Hawking’s states, “ Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing.” Josh states that,” Hawking’s is basically saying that the universe exists because the universe needed to exist, and because the universe exist it therefore created itself. One main idea that Josh mentions in his debate is that he completely denies Darwinian evolution. Josh’s debate to the class clearly rejects a naturalism view of the origin of life and biological evolution. This view makes Christian want to question their faith. Throughout his second debate, Josh seems to be clearly perusing some theistic evolution. This argument does not make sense since Josh is a Christian. When looking back in the argument they are not consistent with the Bible. In the Bible, the order of creation does not agree with the theory of Darwinian.
