Built up in 1914, PNAS distributes front line research, science news, Commentaries, Reviews, Perspectives, Colloquium Papers, and activities of the National Academy of Sciences. There was a study that was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) that states; Neanderthals could have been driven to extinction by competing with the modern humans (PNAS 2016). Archeologists have estimated that opposition between Neanderthals and modern humans prompted the extinction of Neanderthals since modern human had a more propelled culture than Neanderthals, which gives modern humans a competitive edge. Researcher Marcus Feldman and his partners tested the validity of the hypothesis by utilizing a model of interspecies rivalry (PNAS 2016). This joins contrasts in the contending species ' levels of cultural development. The model indicates a small number of modern humans have the ability to completely displace a bigger Neanderthal population, given that humans have a slight cultural advantage over the Neanderthals. Was there really a “battle” between Neanderthals and Modern Human? And mostly importantly, is this theory and hypothesis reliable? With the experiment performed and the legitimate forms used to reach these conclusions, there are still some unanswered questions relating to the whole event happening without other variables surrounding the experiment, the whole extinction event has more variables that would prove the causation of the experiment. In other word, as a reader, it is easy to make an informed decision because there is a simulation to prove the hypothesis of modern humans driving Neanderthals to extinction. The decision will be that modern humans did compete with Neanderthals, as a result of the competition, Neanderthals were driven to extinction. There is enough information to back up the research that has been done by the scientist. The result also supports the hypothesis stated, that modern human drove Neanderthals to extinction through competition, due to the cultural associated advantage the modern human have over the
