The Effects Of The Houses During The Classical Era

During the classical era the houses were known as “oikos.” An oiko consisted of a husband, wife, and their children. To get a spouse back then, they were selected by the appropriate criteria. In the household mostly everyone got along, but it was common for rivalry between son and father. Especially when the son became older. Once the son was of age the father had authority and could be challenged by the son. There’s also the fact that the son was learning new things, which created tension because the father only liked the older ways and the way he was taught.
