It is clear that stress can have an effect on an individuals’ daily life especially towards youth and adults. Individuals tend to feel stress when they are overwhelmed with the amount of demands they must do such as completing an assignment at school, or taking on a huge project for their work. These specific demands can sometimes affect an individual emotionally and physically. According to Lazarus and Folkman stress is defined as “a particular relationship between the person and the environment that is appraised by the person as taxing or exceeding his or her resources and engendering his or her well-being” (McCarville, R. “One way in which leisure is believed to make a contribution to people’s well being, is by helping them to maintain or improve their physical and mental health by reducing tension and stress. There is a clear and consistent relationship between ‘positive attitudes to an engagement in leisure and psychological and physical health” (Trenberth, L., & Dewe, P. 2002, 60). It is important to also use resources that are provided in different institution to assist with maintaining a well balance life mentally and physically, as being stressed out can push people that are close to circle away. It is important to find alternatives of releasing stress such as participating in leisure activities such as working out, walking, or finding moral social support such as talking to friends, family and significant others to release the tension.
