Media Violence does not Create Violence on Children
Media violence does not create violence in children; there are other more important factors that influence violence in children. Media violence is only one risk factor for aggression. The link between media violence and crime is weak after other environmental factors are taken into account role. The above sentences are the main claims that state violence in children is not created mainly by the media. This topic is controversial and this paper will explain that violence in children happens because of overstimulation in violent communities.
Media violence is not the biggest factor in aggression in children and it can be easily controlled (Gentile). The study of media violence began in the 1970s.

Most studies on media violence and crime are based in the laboratory (Gentile). Aggressive behavior is operationally defined in different ways, including a negative evaluation of an essay, noise, shocks and the delivery of an aversive taste. The laboratory finding that media violence and crime is correlated is often used by researchers and policy makers, but it is not based on real life, therefore it is not valid to support the link (Coyne).
Violent media encourages children to identify with the characters. This makes them more likely to go commit similar crimes by mimicking the character and their actions. While US video games sale have increased 204% in the past ten years, violent crime committed by Juevniles went down 37% ("Do Violent Video Games Contribute to Youth Violence?"). Additionally, Video games may decrease crime because people are busy playing the games instead of committing violent acts. It can be easily handled. It is not real life violence. Violence could happen at home and in local communities. Media violence is only one risk factor for aggression. In the meantime, parents, neighborhoods and communities play an important role to control media violence in children. . Parents have a major role in creating the future of their children, and avoiding all violence, media and real life, will contribute to their success (Wills et al.). Before the Ferguson’s studies prospective study have not been used to evaluate video game violence and the impact on player aggression. The Media Violence issue is of concern to the psychologist and the general public. In Ferguson’s study, the children participants listed their three favorite television shows and video games. The media violence questionnaire is used to measure media violence in children. There are many other factors to measure media violence in children. Those factors are negative life events, family environment, family violence, depressive symptoms, a history of serious aggression, bullying and delinquent behavior.
