The story “The Duff” is about a teenage girl named Bianca Piper who is a smart girl with a funny personality, through the experience of trying to change her looks she learns that you shouldn’t make yourself believe what others think of you, and labels shouldn’t define who you are.

Bianca, is often seen as the odd one out, because her friends seem prettier than her. She spends time with her best friends, Jessica and Casey at high school party’s where she does anything but dance. She rarely goes out on dates with anyone but every once in a while someone would ask her out, but there would never be a second date. Bianca decides that she hates him even more. She is even more annoyed about the fact that he calls her “duffy” when they pass in the halls. Bianca soon decides that she has had enough of being the “Duff” and she starts to get annoyed that she has this label. She gets Wesley to help her “un-duff” herself. Wesley agrees to help Bianca, which is much to her surprise but before the “un-duffing” starts she starts an argument with her closest, and only friends because they are apparently making her look worse, with their long hair and good looks. According to Wesley the first step to un-duffing yourself is your clothes, Bianca’s style could be considered as “the female version of Wreck it Ralph.” While at the store she has fun singing and dancing, about another guy she likes called Toby. As she is singing about him she gets video taped by one of the students at her school. Just to make Bianca’s life even more miserable this mystery student shows it to everyone in the school, including Toby, and Bianca is completely humiliated. Wesley tells Bianca to own the fact that she likes him and ask hm out. Bianca eventually does, however he declines her offer.
