The practice of medicine dates back to the years in the 1000’s. As time passed many improvements have been made. From the use of more sophisticated tools to all people being allowed to practice. As time went on medicine work on people further advanced to the practice on animals as well. Animals over time have grown from being solely a source of food to being pets and even to some family. Through the advancements in modern day medicine veterinary and human medicine practice have become alike. On an average basis a student can complete their Degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in four years; however, they are not finished. One main form of medication that is used in both animals and people are steroids. Surgeons are one of the most highly paid jobs in the United States. Both veterinarians and human doctors perform a variety of surgeries oddly enough many of them are quite similar. While the standard tactics to determine the problem may differ the surgeries are the same. Sometimes doctors and veterinarians work together on a surgery. In 2014 a foundation raised $30,000 to bring in a team of surgeons from Japan to perform open heart surgery on a dog; like this a cat at the University of California had open heart surgery performed by a team of veterinarians and human doctors. Cesarian-section (C-Section) births are becoming common in the animal world as well. In 2015 a team of human obstetricians, neonatologists and veterinary anesthesiologists performed a C-section on an orangutan mother saving both the mother and the baby (Oskin). Along with these there are many more varying from reconstruction to brain surgery both human doctors and veterinarians perform life saving surgery the only difference is who or what the patient
