It was a normal day for Ricky Megee when he was driving through Northern Territory in Australia until he came upon some men on the Buntine Highway (National). He told the police and doctors everything he could remember about the kidnapping and the time he spent in the desert. He stayed in the hospital for a few weeks and started gaining back his lost weight (National). The police could not locate his vehicle nor could they find the men that drugged and kidnapped him (Jones). After he got out of the hospital he started living his normal life again. He now lives in Dubai, where he saw his story in the paper and decided to have lunch and talk with a reporter for more details about his story. He reportedly wants to go to Africa for business and construction work (National). Ricky also wrote a book about his story called Left For Dead, explaining his tough journey through one of the most inhospitable areas of Australia. Surviving in the Outback for almost three months was one of the most, if not most, challenging things Ricky had ever faced in life but he survived to tell the story
