An example from the article is “ ‘After infestation, Weeping Angel places the target TV in a ‘fake-off’ mode, so that the owner falsely believes the TV is off when it is on…..recording conversation in the room and sending them over the Internet to a covert CIA server”. We the people believe that smart televisions are just for internet connection and entertainment, but little do we know that its used for the CIA to spy on us. Another example from this article is “By targeting devices, the CIA reportedly gains access to even well-encrypted communications on such popular apps as Signal and WhatsApp,without having to crack encryption itself”. Certain apps on our phones make it easy for the government to read out text messages and store our data.
As technology is advancing, it’s helping the government invade our privacy. We believe that we live in a state where we have the right to privacy but in reality it’s being violated in many ways. Our smart televisions, phoned, computers, and any other electronic device we own are tools for the government to watch us.
