The wars were very crucial and many people died from fighting in them. The war happened in reasoning of the pope calling for a holy crusade because the muslims took over the holy land. The armies and expeditions of the Byzantine Empire went to war with the Muslims for the holy land in Jerusalem which led to bringing in the Christians of the Catholic Church and Pope Urban II asked by emperor to help protect Europeans because the empire lost the first battle.
