Many stories include a theme within them. Themes are a moral or lesson the characters learn or a lesson you can learn from reading the story. Authors use many different technics to develops the themes.

The authors of “The Count of Monte Cristo” and “Blessings” both develop theme in the stories. They use things such as the way characters interact with each other. They can also use different details to develop theme. The theme of the story “The Count of Monte Cristo” is hope. The theme of the story “Blessings” is friendship.

In the story "The Count of Monte Cristo", the story develops the theme of hope. Edmond Dantes is locked in a prison cell. He begins to hear noises coming from the wall. In the text it says "Edmond still heard the sound.
