Vending machines in schools are a controversial topic. The problem is not with the vending machine itself, but rather the way the vending machine is being used. Some changes the U.S. will have to make in order to have these vending machines available to everyone are to make the cost low. Students don’t have a lot of money and even though some may be underprivileged, every child has access to the same snacks to buy in the machine at an affordable price. Vending machines can replace forgotten lunches. It is quite upsetting when a child forgets their lunch and going home for the lunch hour is not an option, particularly since often these days both parents spend the day at work.
