Technology is advancing faster than anyone could have ever predicted. People flock to all the grand releases of the most recent technology with hopes of acquiring the most advanced devices. However, technological advancement has caused an assortment of problems in the workplace, at home, and even in people’s social lives. People can use computers to commit crimes and deceive others, cell phones have become common distractions, and cyber bullying is becoming an increasingly deadly issue.
Computers are one, of many, types of technology that have increased internet crime. Some people use computers for the purpose of deceiving, and manipulating unsuspecting individuals. In fact, computers have created easy access for con artists, hackers, and other criminals to commit internet and other various crimes. When shopping online, people enter their financial information on seemingly secured websites; as a result, they become vulnerable to attacks by these criminals. Cyber bullying is when a child, preteen, or teen is being targeted by another minor using the internet. The bully will torment, harass, and try to embarrass their intended victim when they are vulnerable. Furthermore, people usually develop low self-esteem, and fall into depression due to the ordeal. Countless victims attempt suicide to try and escape the verbal attacks. Consequently, adolescents have murdered each other after being involved in a cyberbullying incident. For example, some individuals who are bullied often become school shooters due to the constant state of fear. Even though, this issue is not yet illegal, the perpetrators can face criminal charges.
