The Importance Of Stereotypes In High School

Out of the corner of my eye, I could see our peers whispering amongst themselves. Everyone was blatantly staring, even the students inside the school were looking through the windows, watching the scene unfold. Justin sighed, his hands falling to the side. "You will eventually see reason Tori. We 're mates after all." "Get the hell out of here Justin before I call our Alpha." I growled out, my words barely understandable. I was growing more irritated by the second. The longer he stood there, the more I wanted to rip his head off.
Justin 's arms shook beside him, knowing that my threat to call our Alpha was real. He knew the consequences of entering our town unwelcome. Tori and Connor grew up together, so our Alpha had a

Derrick was writing a math problem on the board. Half the class was already sitting in their usual spots. The smart kids sat in the front, pen and paper already out on their desk. The troublesome teens sat more towards the windows, currently laughing at some joke. The rest of us just sat where ever.
Stereotypes didn 't really exist in our school. We were a pack to begin with, and even though some girls dressed in the latest fashion and other girls loved wearing sweatpants, there was no bullying. We were family, even if our family could be dysfunctional at times.
Mr. Derrick coughed, staring at the boys in the back while signaling that everyone should sit down and start working on the math problem he had put on the board. Our teacher often reminded me of a guard dog. He didn’t have much to say and his emotions were non-existent. His sharp tongue and harsh actions put most of his students on edge. Math seemed to be the only thing Mr. Derrick enjoyed and he did not tolerate disrespect for the subject very

We still had a couple of minutes before class started, making it safe to talk, as long as it wasn’t loud.
Tori bit her lip, her hands fidgeting with the pencil she had on her desk. Even though I know the whole school was talking about her, I did not see a reason for her to suddenly act so nervous. Knowing her like I did, I knew my best friend was hiding something. “I’m hanging out with a friend tonight.” Tori’s gray eyes wouldn’t meet mine, instead she was staring at her pencil.
Interesting. “Male or female friend?”
Tori gave me a strange look, trying to read my face. “A female friend, why?”
Female? Then why did she act so nervous all the sudden? “No reason.”
In the back of my mind, I wondered if she was hanging out with a female friend, or if she already had her eyes set on another man. I chewed on the end of my pencil, pondering why Tori wasn’t telling me the truth. I would never judge her if she liked someone else. I for one hated Justin. So if she told me she found someone else, I would probably jump over the moon in

The next morning Marisol showed up with dark smudges under her eyes and sort of listless. On her back was a small, floral backpack, with the tiny lizard gargoyle perched on it. Everything about the gargoyle was distinctly female—the rounded face, the dark lining around her almond shaped eyes, the dainty nose, the long, elegant tapering tale and the delicate point to her ears. Even the fine lines of her skin were more flowing and organic rather than scaly. “Jamie, Hawking,” Marisol said once we in the library.…

Avery woke, pain no higher than normal, but was accompanied by the pressure of bandages, which was abnormal. In all of her accessible memories, she had yet to wake up without pain of some sort, despite medication dulling it when she was younger. She was distracted from her musings when a door opened across the cave like infirmary, admitting a cheerful man who could be heard humming to himself, before registering that he had an audience. He blinked, surprised, before asking, “Are you actually awake or is my sleep deprivation finally produced hallucinations?…

When I get to my AP Language class I look around the classroom that has a homey feel to it. Curtains drape over the cold foggy windows in royal red, rimmed with gold shimmering colors. A lamp is turned on, creating a soft glow in the room while the warm smell of pumpkin pie is enough to make it hell for a sleep deprived person to stay awake. I walk to the back of the classroom, and sit exactly in the middle. Then I put my head down, and wait for class to start.…

Stereotypes affect people’s social lives, emotions, and how they interact with their environment. Many stereotypes that are deemed positive in society can have a negative impact on their target. For instance, the stereotype that all Asians are incredibly smart can be seen as a positive one. However, when students of Asian heritage go to school, they all have different learning strengths and capabilities. Due to this stereotype, they are pressured to perform extraordinarily in school.…
