Odysseus and his crew land on the island of the Cyclops, where the men’s curiosity gets the best of them and their actions put them in a dangerous position. “In these words he prayed, and the god heard him. Now he laid hands upon a bigger stone and wheeled around, titanic for the cast, to let it fly in the black-prowed vessel’s track.” (Homer 9. 453-456). Odysseus prays that the Gods are on his side .The use of detail in this quote shows that their actions could have cost them their lives. Curiosity can get the best of you and cause you to do things without thinking what the consequences or outcome may be. When Odysseus and his crew end up on the island of Aeolia, Aeolus, the keeper of the winds tries to help them get back to Ithaca by pushing them back with all the good winds, but gives Odysseus a bag full of the all the bad winds that will send them back. While Odysseus is sleeping men from the ship open up the back thinking it was riches and gets sent back to the island of Aeolia. “Within the sight of home, and while Odysseus is sleeping, the men open the bag, thinking it contains gold and silver. The bad winds thus escape and blow the ships back to Aeolus’ island. The king refuses to help them again, believing now that there voyage has been cursed by the gods.” (Homer 386). Throughout both The Odyssey and the movie Troy characters make choices without fully thinking them through and end up have severe consequences. Odysseus and Paris make decisions and actions that create problems and losses that all lead back to a simple choice. When making almost any decision make sure to think everything through before it backfire and you end up with a bigger problem in your hands, but one way or another almost everyone eventually learns that their actions have consequences because of their own
