This is because the counterculture is getting a large amount of tattoos that are all over there body, and even the face. These tattoos can symbolize sayings, deaths, dates, and even gang correlations. Another reason why the gangs are considered taboo is because they have their own communication by calling each other “homies” (G. Thompson, pg 4, para 8) or throwing up their hands into symbols to communicate to each other. Their tattoos and expressions are not accepted by the social norm. Another reason why the gangs represent taboo is because they carry out crime, and murder, and commute illegal drugs through the nations, and communities. This represents that their actions are causing others to become in harm's way, which is against society's high standards of a modern social norm. But they would want to do a few things after they read. The first thing would be to create a hypothesis. One hypothesis they could make could be to spend more money and time in helping younger teens and children in the tough parts of our global nations to prevent them from tuning to a gang. The hypothesis would be stated as “If we help create more opportunities and spend more money for our younger teens, and children than we will be able to make a difference and help prevent many from turning into a gang”. This hypothesis will in theory help the future of the world. A sociologist would want to do a few things to test this hypothesis. These include, conducting questionnaire for many of these communities, and doing a case study of how this amount of money and creation of opportunities will help the young people of these struggling nations better themselves and others to come. The main reason as to why it would be best to do these tests is so one can get real results that can and will make all.
In conclusion, the article Shuttling Between Nations, Latino Gangs Confound The Law shows that we are all caught in the conflict theory due to a lack of opportunities and money in even the poorest neighborhoods. The biggest issue the article represents is that the nations struggling with gang activity are caught in a circle of repetitive trade of lives that do matter, no matter how odd.
