Logistics Readiness Team: Team Case Study

Major Kenneth Johnson recently took over command of the 10th Logistics Readiness Squadron. Each new commander focuses on bringing something unique to the team and has the ability to guide it effectively towards the realization of its objectives. If a leader lacks that particular uniqueness or extends something valuable to those he leads, then he can only be considered to be a leader on the basis of the position that he or she holds. The concept of leadership has been defined from different perspectives and has been approached from different baselines.
However, from a general perspective, a leader must have the ability to develop an environment that arouses an inspirational zeal amongst his followers so that they eventually achieve both the organizational and personal goals. Most

Model the way Kouzes and Posner (2012) determined that in order for an individual to be considered an exemplary leader, he or she must be models of the kind of behaviour that is being imparted in the employees. The concept of leading by example can be argued to be among the best techniques that can be applied in leadership. If an organization has leadership that is not set up as an example to the others, the employees will degenerate to conflict. This is based on the notion that different employees have different aspects visions and perspectives and will lean towards conflicting solutions. This is an issue that has been identified in the Logistics Readiness Squadron. Even though the leader focuses on the concept of having honest and open communication within the organization, different people have different opinions regarding what is honest and open as far as communication is concerned. On the other hand, the concept of ‘modelling the way’ by the leader has not been as precise as one would expect it to be. The notion of open communication does not necessarily mean that the Major should distribute classified information to the members of the
