Despite that, Blake was aggravated by his inexorable love for his dog and became strong-minded to get Lou anything he wanted. It believes that pet owners, like anyone as well, want advocates. Pet owners require a dependable network of peers they can rely on.…

In Sounder by William H. Armstrong, the family’s coon hound, Sounder, departs to the woods to heal with the acid from oak leaves after attempting to protect his master and being blasted in the head by the deputy’s shotgun. After two rigorous months of healing, Sounder reappears to the family as a living skeleton with a shattered shoulder, single eye, the use of only three legs, and a damaged voice. The mother’s response to Sounder’s return foreshadows a turning point in her attitude: “ ‘Poor creature. Poor creature,’ said the mother and turned away to get him some food.” She exhibits much more kindness and interacts more with Sounder after his return.…

Last but not least the daughter who had a short interaction in the story but because of her there was a whole story to even read. If the story took place in a different place in a different setting I don’t think the father would’ve behaved the same way. Just being at his home where he can imagine where his kids would be running around with sparky probably played in the father’s head continuously. He went the extra mile for the dog that he hates because of his children.…

I wonder how the author of the tale remembered so many details in a story. I don’t think anyone could remember anything exactly if they thought about it a few weeks later, “Within 24 hours, they have forgotten an average of 70 percent of new information, and within a week, forgetting claims an average of 90 percent of it.”- Art Kohn. Our brains often forget a lot of things and sometimes it forgets important things too, yes, the author could have remembered the whole story if it were that important or bizarre to him but he couldn’t have remembered it all. I think that him being so detailed in his story means it is fiction.…

In the short story, "To Build a Fire" by Jack London, a man is hiking with a dog through the Klondike towards a camp containing other travelers in below seventy-five-degree temperatures. Throughout the story, he experiences many obstacles along his path due to nature and his own misdoings. He is unable to identify and interpret the correct measures to take, making his trek much more difficult, and this, along with the glacial temperatures, is what ultimately results in the man's death. Because of his lack of experience in travelling, his lack of a relationship with the dog, and his lack of heeding the advice of an older, experienced traveler, the man is not fit to survive the forbidding climate of the Klondike.…
