It feels as if I’ve been waiting an eternity.
Suddenly the door swing’s open and I hear myself take a sharp intake of air. They are beautiful. Beauty that cannot possibly be described accurately. It’s as if they had been carved from gold. The silent room appeared to grow quieter. It’s as if we are all frozen. Entranced by their presence, like we are hoping they will turn and acknowledged us with a smile or a friendly greeting.
They don’t.

The virus started off small, isolated, but before we knew what was happening, it had started to spread. Those effected were called the forsaken. Once infected, they became viscous uncontrollable creatures. I was one of the lucky few, to live far enough from where the outbreak started, allowing us time to prepare. The walls were built to keep the healthy in and the forsaken out. People lived in fear, only leaving their homes when they desperately needed too. Of course, I hadn’t even been born when it began, and I was only a baby when they discovered the elite, but I still remember my parent’s paranoia. They were afraid – no, they were terrified, that what happened to every other city, would happen to our city. That we would become a
