One thing that we all have in common is that no one wants to die. There is research and studies going on to figure out a way or some type of medication that will help to slow the aging process down, but until then, author Dan Buettner gives advice on how we could live to be centenarians. Dan Buettner identified the four places on the globe where people tend to live the longest and calls them the “blue zones”. Throughout the book he speaks about his experiences and about the people he interviewed and met as he traveled to these four blue spots.
It was interesting to read and see how all four of the blue zones practiced different lifestyles but had similarities in their lifestyles as well. In Sardinia, Italy they drink wine moderately, which

I loved that they had a clear sense of purpose in their lives. They were all about eating healthy and being kind to one another, which I think, is very important and can be beneficial to one’s health. Being kind to everyone can lower stress levels making everyone happier. They believe in eating until your 80% full, due to the fact that it takes your brain time to register that you are full, so if you eat until your brain is telling you your full than you probably over ate. They also refuse to dwell on the past, which I think is one of the best things you could do because I personally tend to dwell on things that happened that are unchangeable and that causes more …show more content…
The lifestyles they lived were interesting too, I love how they have weekly breaks from daily life, which they consider to be the 24-hour Sabbath, which relieves their stress in their life and strengthens their social networks. I think its great that they find well being in sharing their own values and support one another like a family. Many of the people that live there tend to be vegetarians and eat smaller portions as their main dishes instead of these large meals that we tend to eat now a day.
This fourth blue zone in Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica was one region that was big on caring for others and family. They believed in a sense of service for others and were very devoted to their families, which is probably why their people have such positivity and faith. They always live their lives peacefully by believing that someone is looking out for them. They also tend to have their own gardens and drink a ton of water which plays into the clean eating habit. One thing that I found interesting was that Nicoya Peninsula had the highest calcium and magnesium content than anywhere else in Costa

Longevity in the year 2017 The argument created by Dan Buettner in his TED Talk for “How to live to be 100+,” is that longevity is possible for anyone who has good genetics and a healthy life style. More specifically, Dan Buettner (2009) argues that ten percent of longevity forms from genetics and the other ninety percent is effected by our life styles. He collects this information from teaming up with National Geographic, and the National Institution on Aging in which they travel the worlds blue zones that include: the island of Sardinia in Italy, Okinawa in Japan and Loma Linda in California. They discover each zone has more than one person who has lived passed the age of one hundred; Acknowledging that each zone is different Buettner, with…

The thesis of the documentary The Thin Blue Line is that, in the murder of Officer Robert Wood, the police were more interested in convicting Randall Adams than finding true justice. Throughout the documentary, director Errol Morris uncovers the story of what really happened on the night of November 29, 1976. Interviews with police, lawyers, and eyewitnesses help to piece together the actions of everyone involved in the investigation, and the lengths taken to obtain a death sentence. 1. In an interview, Randall Adams said that the police tried to force a confession by threatening him with a gun, and that "they didn't want to believe [him]".…

In the video.” How to Live 100+,” Dan Buettner claimed to have found a formula for longevity. There are people around the world and in our own country living longer than the national average. People are living such long lives, because they are making lifestyle changes in their everyday life. I believe that some of the habits practiced by Blue Zoners could work and others could not work here in Virginia, such as; the food we eat, the physical activity we should get everyday, and the friends we should hang out with.…

Now you can see how a street controversial to the outside eye, is normal for a sixteen year old student who’s never done anything as rebel as having one little sip of a Cody’s can. Growing up in Courtenay Crescent hasn’t numbed me to the kind of lifestyle growing up in a world close to past criminals or broken families, but it has shown me to look passed their past lives and see them for who they are now; respectful, responsible and easily loving. There has never been a day when someone has not gestured a greeting over to a neighbour across the street, or when the children have stopped creating chaos on our street, or when the Government’s dying palm trees have never been poked or kicked at. Believe me; those things make a street look raggedy…

The other day, I saw a news article about a ninety year old lady who was still dancing despite her age. She hardly looked or acted her age and was clearly on her way to fulfilling National Geographic journalist Dan Buettner’s task of living to be over one hundred which he investigates in his speech “How to Live to be 100+”. In his speech, Buettner delves into what exactly extends life by looking into so called Blue Zones or “ areas where people are living to age one hundred at rates up to ten times greater than we are, areas where the life expectancy is an extra dozen years, the rate of middle age mortality is a fraction of what it is in this country”(Buettner 3). Buettner claims that living to be one hundred is not accomplished through things…
