Special care must be taken at times, especially when dealing with potentially sensitive subject matter such as historic race relations or prior religious conflict, that no student regardless of their particular heritage be made to feel undesirable or ostracized. The Educator must never display anything that may be considered a bias. All students should be treated fairly and equally. Examples of effective ways to reinforce cultural equality would be the incorporation of important figures in individual cultures into the lesson plan. For example while giving a lecture of the World War 1 acknowledging and elaborating on the contribution of Black-American solders such as the famed and highly decorated Harlem Hellfighters, whose heroic efforts on behalf of the allied forces won them both the respect of Allied and Central forces alike would be used as a way of making black students feel invested and significant. These pleasantries display both a personal knowledge and respect of the individual student’s culture as well as an interest in their wellbeing. These methods well effective are however limited to the effective management of cultural diversity. For every student of a foreign or non- traditional culture there are just as many if not more with learning impairments or mental disorder ranging from minor to severe be it ADHD, Dyslexia or Bipolar disorder. As with students from other cultures special care must be taken with these students to ensure they not only feel welcomed and safe in the classroom but that they achieve to their academic height.
Students with Dyslexia for example often respond positively to a multisensory approach, which utilizes multiple senses at once, such as vivid use of color when writing and providing frequent feedback and encouraging student participation in discussions.
