Cell Cycle and Cancer
By Samuel Lehew
(Rough Draft)
The cell cycle is a complex set of stages where the cell duplicates itself, in which the captivating process of this is explained cancer will also be explained and how the different types of cancer can be treated differently. Also, the fatality rates and the genetic inheritability. Cancer can affect any at any moment, just one mistake in one of these stages and the mutation and uncontrolled cell growth can commence.
The cell cycle has two main phases, Interphase and Mitosis the final stage is very important, but it is also small, cytokinesis stage is the final stage of the cell cycle. Interphase consists of three stages of the cell cycle, G1, S, …show more content…
Mitosis consists of four stages, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telophase. Easily known as PMAT. In the first stage of mitosis, prophase, the cell's nucleus starts to dissolve or become less visible, this is when we can start to see the chromosomes, or condensed DNA. During metaphase, the chromosomes are connected by spindle fibers and all of the chromosomes are aligned in the middle of the cell, the sister chromosome are connected by the centromere. Errors in this phase can happen when the spindle fibers are connecting and connect to an uneven amount of chromosomes. In anaphase, spindle fibers connect to centromere and pull the chromosomes to the opposite end of the nucleus. An error in this stage can be when the spindle fibers connect and pull and uneven amount to the next cell, making it have too many chromosomes. Finally, in telophase, the nucleus starts to re form and we can see it again under a microscope, it is also the result of a daughter cell. Any error in this phase can result in a catastrophic problem with the nucleus and can result in …show more content…
In the U.S. the fatality rate for cancer is out of every 100,000 people, 207.9 people are diagnosed. In china, the fatality rate is rising by 1.63% every year . In Mexico, the fatality rate is for every 100,000 people, 79 people will be diagnosed by cancer. Finally, in australia, the fatality rate is 16% of people are diagnosed with cancer out of every 100,000 people. Fatality rates are rising and falling in certain countries, with some diseases, can lead to cancer. The diseases can be spread from person to person, letting more and more people have a higher chance or risk of having cancer. Genetic inheritability of the U.S., China, Mexico, and Australia is only 95% - 90%, genetic inheritability is the percentage of how many people are not affected by cancer genetically. The Genetic heritability of the people in the world is about 5% that are affected by cancer. The genetic inheritability of cancer is relatively low in all countries, but the 5 percent of the people can in reality be a huge amount of people affected by
