Consisting of the brain and the spinal cord, the central nervous system is one of the three parts of the nervous system in human body. This system is responsible for information and action processing. It coordinates the response to a stimulus by integrating sensory information and responding properly in the environment. The brain, as the control center of human body, interprets the sensory information (sight, sound, smell, taste and touch) from all parts of the body. On the other hand, the spinal cord is in charge of connecting the brain and the body for information exchanging and reaction. But such a complex process happens multiple times and in difference situations, what is actually contributing to the basic fuction? It brings us to the idea of cell signaling.
In the communication of the nervous system, cell receives signals generated from the environment or within the body and processes this to other cells. The environment cues can be temperature, light and so on. If it’s from the body, cell can response to chemical messengers. Those activities and action at

For example, some drugs can be used to treat Parkinson’s disease because the mechanism of synaptic signaling has been discovered and scientists can directly apply those drugs in order to fix any abnormality in the progress of cell signaling. One of the potential causes of Parkinson’s disease is the shortage of dopamine. That’s why dopamine agonists are used to treat some of the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Taking those medications are efficient way to increase the concentration of dopamine level and maintain the normalcy of cell signaling.
Despite we need to continue to improve our comprehension of the idea of cell signaling, we can deny the fact that the knowledge of cell signaling in the central nervous system is still highly applicable and practical in medical
