In this article, the writer used a few types of tone in different paragraphs. In the beginning of the article, the tone of the author is threatening . For example, paragraph 1 line 3, ‘It’s ironic, because in the amounts we currently consume it, sugar is a chronic toxin and it is killing us — slowly.’ He used ‘killing’ instead of ‘harming’ and I believe that this is because he wanted to attract the readers’ attention. Then, the tone of his article become direct because he wanted to pass the information and message more clearly to the readers. In the last paragraph, the author’s tone become informal.
