The big man was envious of the boy from the very start. When the boy asked to take the man down to Mr. Harris said “Fine.” He proceeded to say “He knows where the books are as well as I do” to the big man. I think the big man took offense to that statement because the boy was only 18 years old and he acted as if the big man’s knowledge was at the same level even though he was older. The big man was also envious that the boy was able to read many novels unlike himself. He went on to say that he went to work at a young age and never could afford to spend money on books. Christopher Wallace, aka Biggie Smalls and the Notorious B.I.G., lived a short life. He was 24 years old when he was gunned down in 1997 in Los Angeles, a murder that has never been solved. Smalls was from New York and had almost single-handedly reinvented East Coast hip hop — overtaken in the early 1990s by the West Coast "g-funk" sound of Dr. Dre and Death Row Records. He styled himself as a gangster and although he was no angel, in reality he was more of a performer than a hardened criminal.…
