One of the main causes of the American Revolution was the Boston Tea Party. During the Boston Tea Party, three British ships were boarded by Samuel Adams and the Sons of Liberty (an organization formed to protect the rights of the colonists and to fight the taxation by the British government). In disguise of Native Americans, they threw overboard over 342 chests of tea which would be worth nearly over $1,000,000 today (Boston Tea Party). “The Boston Tea Party displayed the fact that colonists were well aware of Parliament’s attempts to use the colonists’ tax money to repay British war debts and that the colonists would not stand for this unfair treatment.” (Importance of the Boston Tea Party). In addition to the Boston Tea Party, the Stamp Act was also one of the causes of the American Revolution.
