Needless to say, that due the budget restraints, a lot of the movie had to be cropped, so some of the major details and legends were deleted which of course made the movie inaccurate and non-fictional. Although the movie has its down falls, it was still captivating but rather humorous. The lightening and background effects in the 1915 version is much of an alluring dull effect betraying what we can only imagine was fear in the atmosphere before the battle. The recreation of the 2004 version of course is more enhanced with color due to technology, and better film quality that would make it more appealing and effective to the modern way. The visual of the smoke after each cannon was fired was very interesting. Can you imagine being surrounded by the professional warriors of Santa Anna forces who were so large in number, that he had his troops marching two days apart from each other? The way Santa Anna handled the battle of the Alamo showed us his strengths. Will all know that biggest problem at the Alamo was that they lacked in supplies and their manpower was fading rapidly, however; despite the effort, the valiant male defenders of the Alamo were enormously outnumbered even if they had the large cannons, and the massive Mexicans troops who came to battle by the columns were skilled and were qualified for the job at hand. Maybe the outcome would’ve been different if they were able to combine forces with other states, but the fact remains the same that they didn’t have enough defenders to fight this bloody war.Some other critical points that stood out in the 2004 version is enormous amount of drinking and smoking and the use of profanity showing more modern day being used at least 3 or 4 times and Crockett makes a few remarks referring to “redskins” and “injuns”.
