This is the final label that portrays the whole span of time between 500 and 1400 but never came completely into place until after the “Age of Faith”. Encouraged by faith, many inventions and ideas that were created improved the economy. During this time Europe increased in trade and made many new economic relationships. As shown in Document Six, an expert written in 1964 by Gray C. Boyce, “Even at it worst it performed the function of guarding, frequently by accident and chance, the knowledge and treasures of what had come before, but even more it was creative and inventive, and transmitted to later ages great riches of its own.” This means that because of creativity, knowledge, and chance the Middle Ages brought riches along with a better economy. Also that overall at it’s worst the “Dark Ages” were never that dark. Document Seven describes positives parts of the Middle Ages from an article written in 1946 by H. C. Davis, Oxford University Press, “Measure it, however, by the memories and achievements that it has bequeathed to the modern world… It flourished in the midst of rude surroundings, fierce passions, and material ambitions… we must judge them by their philosophy and law, by their poetry and architecture.” The author believes the majority of the Middle Ages were Golden because even when they had nothing they still had the passion to create and discover wondrous things. The Middle Ages got off to a bad start, the Dark Ages is a common name to describe the early period of the Middle Ages. Many people felt that all they had left was their faith during those horrid times which slowly brought on the Age of Faith. The Catholic Church encouraged agricultural, economic, and academic improvements. This quickly led to the Golden Ages when art, architecture, and economy enhanced. The labels of the Middle ages relate to the names of a commonly played game in which small bags are tossed at a hole in a target. This game has many known names tailgate toss, baggo, beanbag toss, and cornhole. Tailgate Toss could be a label to describe the game because it is commonly played at tailgates. Baggo could describes this because the bags are thrown at a target. Another realistic name for this game is bean bag toss this is because some bags were filled with beans. The label cornhole can be used because the bags were originally filled with dried corn and that the bag of corn is thrown at the hole. Even though all these names are perfectly suitable, cornhole is the best name for this is because it describes the origin of the game and gives an idea of what's going to happen.
