I will also get the be there for the families when there are going through a hard time and reassure them that everyone is on there team and is working towards the same goal; making sure our patient gets to leave the hospital healthy and happy. Of course one of the major disadvantages is that I won’t be able to save every child that comes to the hospital where I am working. Sometimes there will be nothing I can do but make a child comfortable while they die and I know that is going to be hard. It is going to hard when I can’t save a life but I feel that as long as I try my best then I will have accomplished something. Ever since I was a child I have wanted to grow up and help people, I have always wanted to make an impact on the people I see around me but it wasn’t until my younger brother died in 2008 that I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life. The fact that I am planning to work with children makes patience all that more important because while I love children, children are not always the best patience. Children are meant to run around and have play and when they get sick hey can’t do that which makes them grumpy and they have tantrums. Also, the parents of the children that I am going to be working with are not going to want to hear that the medication isn’t working or that their child isn’t getting any better so I am going to have to be able to handle angry parents. Not to mention the fact that I am going to be working with other nurses and doctors that have also been working long shifts and every once and a while somebody is going to snap at me because they are frustrated or tired. As a professional, I am going have to be able to handle situations like that in a calm manner so that I don’t make the situation worse. It is also extremely important to be passionate when working in a clinical setting because not all of the patients will get better and sometimes there will just be a day where nothing seems to go right and if I don’t have passion for the job I
