The focus is on the TWO daughters (Thando and Mandisa), which are very different in style, color and attitude. However Mandisa is hoping by all means to try and change Thando to reach her level.
Thando is Sipho's daughter, she is a teacher, and works at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearings as the interpreter. Mandisa is very different from Thando and she doesn’t care whether they are uncomfortable with the cremation she simply says "Oh this is ridiculous, I didn’t come here to argue about ashes"(Kani,2002:17). Thando explains the traditions to Mandisa that "My father would expect us to show some respect for at least a month as children"(Kani,2002:23).As for Mandisa according to her independency and tackling things herself she simply states "Thando you are too young, You don't have to do what pleases
