Prudencio’s poem is a great example of Crystal’s idea of texting because it introduced a new change in language evolution and allows people to become linguistically creative. Texting has involved through generation as it a new way of being innovative created by using language and symbols that permit people to use a creative language to communicate. However, people argue that text message or text abbreviation has wrecked the English language, but in fact, the language is not being damaged because it is just helping to develop a new way of being linguistically creative; as people use abbreviation and symbols to express themselves while texting. This is presented in Crystal’s article “2b or not 2b”, where she states “Some people dislike texting. Some are bemused by it. . There is a Spanish quote that said, knowledge makes a professor and if the professor knows its content he or she could be an expert in it. In today’s society, people might believe that using text message abbreviations affects a children’s ability to do well in a standard test or damage their language, but in fact, when a teen utilizes abbreviations the chances of getting a higher score are higher because as a result, students improve their ability to read and write. This is proven in Crystal’s article when she disputes that, using text abbreviations improves a child ability to do well in his/her standard test. This is shown in Crystal’s words “Before you can write and play with abbreviation forms, you need to have a sense of how the sound of your language relate to the letters” (6). If a child utilized an abbreviation is because they understand the meaning of it.
