A constitution is a collection of fundamental principles which guides on how a state or a country is to be governed or ruled. Texas Constitution is a basic governing document of the state of Texas. The present Texas Constitution was established in 1876. It is the seventh constitution in the Texas’ history. State constitutions are vital since they manage a few matters that are not stated in the United States Constitution. This paper tries to discuss the State Constitution of Texas with specific consideration to the present state constitution.
The current Texas Constitution has approximately two hundred and eighty-nine segments which are composed of seventeen articles. It sets up the structure and purpose of the Texas state government. The most outstanding part of the Texas Constitution is its length. With seventy-six thousand words, Texas Constitution is one of the lengthiest state constitutions in the U.S. Texas Constitution demonstrates the principles of representative democratic government, whereby power emanates from the general population.
