The five points stand for 5 words fortitude, loyalty, righteousness, prudence, and broadmindedness. All these colors also symbolize a trait of Texas. The red is bravery, the blue is loyalty, the white is purity. The star’s name is the lone star.

The state seal of Texas was chosen on March 12, 1836. This was 10 days after its independence. It is mostly blue with an oak branch and olive branch. The oak branch resembles strength.
