The reason that I am investigating this problem is just to figure out the reason and purpose for dimples. The question that I am inestigating for this project is, “Will deeper dimples have a greater distance than a regular ball when struck by a golf club. The materials that I needed to conduct this experiment was, a box of 24 golf balls, a sawed off 4 iron, ¾ in plywood, 2 by 4 wood strips, electric tape, screw gun, skillsaw, 1 ½ in deck screws, extention cord, power drill, door springs, door hinge, and hose clamps.

I did my experiment in an open field. First i positioned the swinging mechanism in the direction that the open field was located. Second, I placed one of the golf balls on the placement dot. Third, I pulled the club back then let it go to deliver the hit on the ball. Fourth, I Measured how far the ball traveled. Then I recorded the information on my data table. After that I repeated the same procedure for the rest of the golf balls.

In conclusion my hypothesis was correct. If I could do this experiment better i would pick a calm day with no wind to do my experiment because the wind could have been a factor towards
