The Tennessee National Guard Adjutant General visits with Troopers deployed to Joint Task Force Guantanamo, Oct. 19-20 on U.S. Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. “It was different than what I expected it to be,” said U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Terry “Max” Haston, the Adjutant General for Tennessee National Guard. “It’s a world of its own. It’s stepping into a piece of history that most Americans don’t get the opportunity to see. Our Soldiers serving down here are very fortunate to have this opportunity.” Two Tennessee units are currently deployed to JTF GTMO, split between the Joint Detention Group and the JTF Public Affairs Office. “As usual, the Tennessee Army National Guard is doing exemplar work,” said U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Mike Gentry, the Tennessee command sergeant major. “Everybody that we have spoken to speaks highly of all of our troops, whether it be the MPAD or the MPs.
