It is apparent that the internet has become a vital part in everyday life, thus affecting all media sectors. For example, television programmes are more accessible worldwide due to streaming websites whereas previously, audiences would have to wait for the programme to be scheduled live on television. The objective of my study is to research the consequences that the television industry will face due to the rise in popularity of the internet. In recent years, piracy has become a major threat and is not only causing a threat to the television industry, but to all media sectors. None of the questions I will ask will contain an upsetting subject matter due to the nature of my study. Because my subject matter it not upsetting, it does not necessarily matter if I use vulnerable people that may have metal illnesses or learning difficulties. I will avoid deceiving those who take part in my study by telling them exactly what I am researching beforehand and then debriefing them afterwards. This will avoid any confusion and keep them updated at all times. All of the surveys and questionnaires will be anonymous, thus keeping a promise of confidentiality. Focus groups may be recorded however so that it can be analysed without missing any important information. However, the video recording will not be shared with anyone and will only be used for collating data. Participants will be warned beforehand so they have the choice as to whether they want to be recorded or not. I will hand out a consent form to avoid any issues in the future as well as a participation sheet with all of the information regarding my study and research topic. After collating the research, all data will be deleted so that it is not passed on to anybody else. Furthermore, to prevent plagiarism I will research into similar studies to ensure that I do not copy what has been done
