For example, one can communicate with others all over the world through social media. People can directly connect with others and exchange information over a large distance. Being connected through social media allows us to know a lot about a person, including their “personal and religious beliefs, favorite bands, and relationship status” and allows people to keep in touch even when “we’ve all gone back to our daily world of classes, homework, and clubs” (Wilkinsion 950). Because many social media sites are easily accessible on cell phones, people can communicate around the world without having to look up from their five-inch screens. This user-friendly way of communication allows for a greater spread of information and understanding from place to place. Students can also use this wide spread technology to their advantage by gathering concrete research through performing video chat interviews with individuals all over the world gaining credible evidence for research papers and assignments. Using cellphones in learning specifically can teach key techniques in communication, research, and networking with others. In having so much information accessible through cell phones, students are able to easier develop ideas and provide a whole realm of evidence to support their claims. Using technology in this way promotes communication with others and allows students to work together when having difficulty with a project or assignment. Although technology is becoming an important part of life in current generations, it is not damaging or diminishing their eagerness to learn, but rather enhancing it with new opportunities. The worry of a technology- obsessed generation is senseless because individuals must adapt to use these technological skills to their advantage.
