Technology-enabled innovation comes in many aspects. These aspects may include using cutting-edge analytics to improve the decision-making process, engaging digital technologies to reformat manufacturing, and connecting mobile capabilities to improve marketing and sales, to name just a few. The root in all these cases is the establishment of a platform that can be properly leveraged repeatedly to deliver the best possible outcome. Health care has been slow to innovate, especially in financial models, customer experience, and core processes. In chronic care, new business models are developing in reaction to the private and public policies intended to reduce spending and improve outcomes (Coye, Haselkorn, & DeMello, 2009).
