Do computers take away from interpersonal communication and interactions with our co-workers, peers, and colleagues or do they help us enable and strengthen current relationships? Most people have talked to someone through text messaging, email, or social media to avoid a face to face communication. Essentially everyone has been able to retain a relationship virtually due to location and their current situation. Computers aren’t necessarily a thing of the “past.” In perspective, this means that we have yet to scope our complete potential. Technology has efficiently developed society to be more complex using computers to intricate many aspects our living standards. As Alex Lickerman states in his article, The Effects Of Technology On Relationships, “the difference between [Internet] interactions and interactions with people in the physical world is clearly vast.” While this is true, certain areas of human nature example this disconnection between people. Such as, the behavior effect on people and the dangers that come as casualties. With the discussed communication potentials, social interaction is brought to a virtual state. As this is not always a good thing people can become isolated. This form of isolation can be blamed on addiction, which can portray computers as an electronic drug. Especially considering that some people will expect more from virtual relationships that obtainable. Leading into false relations, if one is so addicted to the online world excessively, they are likely to substitute virtual relations into their life.
