In addition, healthcare teamwork enable healthcare professional to safely and consistently deliver high quality patient care but any failure in healthcare’s teamwork contributes toward errors in patient’s medical treatment.
It is also outlined in the study of safety and errors prevention that insufficient or ineffective teamwork between nurses and other healthcare team members is significantly contributed factor to patient’s adverse events. For example, any breakdown in teamwork can causes increases in patient harm, length of hospitalization, more recourse use. For instance, most of the doctors reported that they were ineffectively discussing patient’s treatment options such as diagnostic evaluations, preventive services and therapeutic treatments if their patients were not cover by insurance or does not have insurance.
